In the Thạnh Phong massacre, the US SEAL special forces killed 21 innocent civilians, including elderly, women, and children. After breaking into the home of Mr. Bui Van Vat and Mrs. Luu Thi Canh, the US soldiers brutally cut the throats of the couple. Three children, Mr. Vat's grandchildren, had hidden in this culvert but were still caught by the US special forces. They stabbed two girls to death and disemboweled a boy, Mr. and Mrs. Vat's nephew. They also massacred many other families here.
