Interior architecture of the Post Office

When you step into the City Post Office, you will feel like you have stepped back in time. This place is like a railway station in Europe in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Inside the City Post Office are two maps drawn on the left and right walls of the building. On the left is a map of Southern Vietnam and Cambodia titled "Lignes telegraphiques du Sud Vietnam et Cambodge 1892", which translates to "Telegraph lines of Southern Vietnam and Cambodia 1892". The second map on the right is called "Saigon et ses environs 1892” - “Saigon and its surroundings 1892".

Below the two maps are antique phone booths and rows of seats for guests to rest. On each phone booth is a small clock showing different time zones of different countries and regions.

The interior of the post office is designed with a high vaulted system supported by 4 iron pillars. This vaulted system makes the building more airy and also helps to better light the entire structure.

Currently, the letter receiving area is still operating normally, receiving requests to send letters and parcels according to the regulations of the Vietnam Post system.

In addition, the City Post Office also has a souvenir shop selling stamps, books, decorative items and also supports foreign visitors to exchange money here.

Although this work has existed for over 150 years, the Central City Post Office has a great significance in terms of architecture - culture - history for the people of the city as the once center of communication.
